Dorset e-Petitions - Christchurch Borough Council - Reduction in Speed Limit through Highcliffe Shopping Centre

Reduction in Speed Limit through Highcliffe Shopping Centre

We the undersigned petition the council to

support the reduction of the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on the A337 through the Highcliffe Shopping Centre

The A337 is a busy road which passes through the Highcliffe Shopping Centre. The majority of the shoppers are elderly and many are concerned about the traffic. Cyclists also find the traffic a problem. In the rush hours there can be significant congestion. In the adopted Core Strategy the Council proposed to introduce calming measures. The reduction in speed limit would be consistent with stated policy and with Government guidance to Councils on setting local speed limits.
